The University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music seeks a full-time, tenure-track Associate/Full Professor to serve as Program Director in the area of Music Management/Music Industry Studies. The successful candidate will teach and develop undergraduate courses in varied music business topics relevant to today’s industry, as well as administer the program which includes recruiting, hiring and training adjunct faculty to supplement the other two full time faculty who serve the program. The selected candidate will develop and maintain strong relationships with for-profit and/or not-for-profit music industry employers in California to foster music business internship placements as well as ongoing mentoring programs for students. The candidate will be familiar with current and emerging music business strategies and practices including software platforms, distribution, and revenue models associated with music business and music industry fields. In addition, the successful candidate will be able to engage in curriculum updating and development, provide support for program growth, inspire, motivate and advise students, maintain an active and successful recruitment and retention program, and demonstrate an unflagging commitment to inclusion in all of its forms.
This faculty member will be available for student access and inquiry throughout each term via an appropriate schedule of published office hours. They will also participate in service to the unit, University and the discipline. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active career in research and publication as part of their appointment in order to be considered for tenure. The appointment will begin Fall of 2020.

An earned master’s degree, or the equivalent in professional experience, in a field allied with music management and music industry fields.Additional Qualifications
Collegiate level teaching in the field; an advanced degree in music industry or a related field; documented experience in entrepreneurial activity or business innovation; publication in the field; recruiting and training adjunct faculty in the field; service/recognition to or from institutions or trade associations related to the music industry.Physical Requirements
Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using computer keyboard and phone. Occasional standing, walking climbing stairs, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.Special Instructions
