The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute provides the best scientific research, education and clinical care integrating conventional and complementary medicine and strives to transform healthcare through the practice of integrative health by conducting rigorous research, promoting evidence-based treatment modalities, educating the public on well-being practices, providing individualized, patient-centered clinical care and providing services to the community that focus on obtaining optimal health. Serves as an expert level Dietitian for a large specialized area within the nutrition department. The Clinical Dietitian will develop and implement integrative nutrition and/or a functional nutritional approaches in 1:1 and group setting for patients at Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute (SSIHI). The clinical dietitian will provide nutrition therapy services for Integrative Health patients by evaluating nutrition parameters and selecting appropriate therapies to restore or maintain optimal nutritional status. The dietitian will provide nutrition education and consultation for patients as a means of ensuring comprehensive care. Services provided by the dietitian include but are not limited to: diet assessments, lab evaluations, and patient education. In addition, the incumbent is also responsible for process improvement, participation in the development and implementation of new nutritional services and programs and provide policy recommendations for nutrition service related services. Participation in research protocols, community speaking, and academic lectures as it relates to programs and services at SSIHI.
Annually: $61,100.00 - $93,050.00
In-depth knowledge associated with providing evaluation, assessment, and nutritional therapy services within specialty area(s).
In-depth knowledge of applicable laws, internal policies, and standards of professional conduct.
Knowledge of medical center and UC policies and processes.
Knowledge and skills to recommend improvements to nutritional services and consult on quality improvement.
Excellent skills in working effectively on a team and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary care team.
Advanced interpersonal and communications skills.
Knowledge of electronic medical record systems and software used in functional area.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge and experience with billing and coding nutritional services.
Knowledge of cultural customs as they related to health care and food preferences.
Minimum 3 years of experience as a registered dietitian.
Demonstrated professional development in integrative nutrition and/or a functional nutritional approach.
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver educational presentations to lay public and/or professional audience.
Experience with Research protocols, preferred.
Experience teaching in an academic institution.
BS degree from an accredited program in nutritional science and internship accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in nutritional science.
Master Degree or PhD in Nutrition, preferred.
Licensed Registered Dietitian in the state of California.
Current certification through the Commission on Dietician Registration.
National certification as a registered dietician (RD)/ registered dietician/nutritionist RDN by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Advanced skills in teaching and mentoring.
Board certificated specialist in one or more certifications offered by the commission of Dietetic Registration.
Advanced Practice Certification in Clinical Nutrition.
Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (FAND).
